Comments:

Flyhalf Pete Marketos scored in every way possible with a
try, a penalty kick, a drop goal, and three conversions
to lead the Austin RFC Blacks to a 32 to 25 win over the
Kansas City Blues. The match was played at Burr Field, the
30 acre rugby and club-house facilities owned by the Austin
RFC. It was a game of spurts, with each team controlling
for long periods. The Blacks started with a bang, scoring
two converted tries to lead by 14-0 after 10 minutes.
Inside center Ben McKeever scored the first try and 22 year
old flyhalf Pete Marketos, a last minute addition to the
side, converted and added his own converted try on the
ensuing kick-off. Kansas City came back with a try of
their own before McKeever scored his second try. Open-side
flanker Pedro Gutierrez added a try to make the half-time
score 26-20. The pace slowed down in the second half with
Austin managing only a penalty-kick and a drop goal, both
off the foot of Marketos, and Kansas City putting in a try.
