Largest crowd of the season (over 30,000) disappointed supporters saw the NSW Waratahs decisively defeated by Natal in the Super 12 game at the Sydney Football Stadium on Tuesday April 2. NSW held an undeserved 3.0 lead at the break after withstanding a tide of Natal raids. When Natal scored the first of their 5 tries in the opening minutes of the second half, the Waratahs seemed gone, even though they struggled to lead 6-5. Four excellent tries followed and the Waratahs seemed to have no answer to the unrelenting pressure and high speed attacking rugby played by Natal. The Waratahs looked a tired bunch at match end.
.The Waratahs have gone from almost certain semi-finalists last week to outside chances only. They need to win all five remaining matches to ensure a semi-final position, and 3 of those matches are away, including games against Aukland and Queensland.A disappointing result for Waratah supporters, but nothing can be taken away from the quality of performance of the Natal side. Where have they been up to now??
