Comments:

Starting off the spring on an auspiciously nice day, the
Union College ruggers took the field versus home team
Syracuse. Syracuse began the game threatening to score, making
several valiant efforts at the Union try zone, but after
some rugged tackling, Union kicked a 22-meter drop, pursuing
it down the field and scoring with support. From here Union
dominated, scoring three more tries with a combination of
smart strategy, hard tackling and running, and effective
respirators. Tries were scored by Ian Laycock (3) and
Brian Field (1), but most notable of all was the excellent
team effort that Union exhibited, both on offense and defense.
Syracuse bounced back in the B-side, winning a very close
contest 12-10. Union went home quite pleased with their
triumph over Division I Syracuse (Union is Div. III).
