I have put together a couple of web pages that allow one to post scores and match summaries onto a consolidated web site. I designed it as a supplement to rec.sport.rugby in that while I hope someone will take the time to put up reports from international, provincial and select-side matches it is geared towards the club sides of the world. I would hope it allows us the possibility of keeping track of sides we might have played for or against in the past but have lost track of over the years. In this light, please try to make an effort to put your home side's scores up, you never know who might find something to smile about. That said, a few words of caution. My system admin has been nice enough to let me set this up here so please try to be tasteful in your comments (if not objective). Additionally, I'm sure some will find great amusement in informing the world that Moe's Tavern's C side has crushed the All Blacks. Please don't. The process is quite simple, access the URL: http://csugrad.cs.vt.edu/~dtracey/rugby/scores.html This is the page that allows you to either report a score or look at the scores already posted. Click on "report" to report a score (I'm a forward so I realized I had to make this as easy as possible for the backs :) I have broken things down by country for the time being. If you don't see your country listed as a choice e-mail me and I'll fix it. If things start getting really cluttered I will start to further break things down into provinces or local unions. I have also included a League page but not knowing much about the sport and where it is played I just lumped the League-playing world into one group. At the least, please fill in the country the match was played, the teams names and a reasonable estimate of the score (if you aren't sure who won or even who was playing please make some phone calls first). There are some text fields following for the scoring and match comments. I realize it is often not known who on the other team is doing the scoring so just put in what you know or ask someone on the sidelines to keep track. Your e-mail address is requested at the bottom. Then click the "Post Score" button and a copy of the report that gets tabulated will pop up. Now if you go back to the original URL and click on your country's name the week's results pop up and the scoreline of the match you just entered is there as a link to your report! A final word, I hacked this thing together over the last day or so more as an exercise in html forms processing than as producing a polished product. Thus, though the function of the system works, the interface is a bit rough and will smooth out over the next week or so. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
